The KT220 is a complete testing system for protection and metering CTs according to IEEE and IEC standards. It allows all types of single and multi-ratio current transformers to be tested on-site in power system grids.

 

The KT220 offers a wide range of measurements, including:

● CT-ratio and phase-angle accuracy with consideration of nominal and operational burden for various currents

● CT winding resistance

● CT excitation / saturation (unsaturated and saturated)

Mini CT/PT Analyzer KT220: Portable, Accurate, Powerful


KT220

Automatic high-precision equipment for the complete characterization, conformance evaluation, and diagnosis of protection and metering Current Transformers (CTs) via injection of electrical signals into the secondary winding.

1. The equipment performs tests by injecting signals into the secondary winding of the Current Transformer.

2. It is a digital unit capable of performing both manual and automatic verification of Current Transformers.

3. The equipment features a power supply rating of at least 100 VAC at 50/60 Hz nominal, and includes a power cable.

4. The test set is capable of testing Current Transformers of at least accuracy class 0.05.

5. The test set is capable of testing Current Transformers with multi-ratio secondaries of at least 5 taps (X1–X5) automatically without requiring reconnection during the test; for this purpose, the test set includes all necessary cables, accessories, and external modules, if required, to perform this test as specified.

6. The equipment supports local operation and therefore includes an integrated display.

7. The equipment supports remote operation from a laptop computer via software.

8. For the phase-angle measurement test, the equipment offers a resolution of at least 1 minute and a typical measurement accuracy of at least 3 minutes.

9. The equipment performs the turns-ratio test of the secondary winding of the Current Transformer.

10. For the turns-ratio measurement test, the equipment provides a measurement accuracy that guarantees a maximum typical error of no more than 0.02% over a ratio range of at least 1 to 5,000.

11. The test-set software supports direct comparison of the excitation curve obtained during the test with a reference excitation curve, and plots this curve comparison. The equipment does not perform the comparison automatically.

12. The test-set software supports determination of the inflection points (knee-point voltage).

13. The test set is capable of performing knee-point voltage tests up to 30 kV (theoretical equivalent) by increasing the magnetic flux density using an indirect method (frequency variation or DC component injection).

14. The software is capable of automatically evaluating the Current Transformer test results against the IEEE C57.13, IEC 61869-2, and IEC 60044-1 standards for Current Transformers of at least accuracy class 0.05.

15. The equipment performs the burden impedance measurement test.

16. The equipment performs the winding resistance measurement test.

17. For the winding resistance measurement test, the equipment offers a resolution in the range of at least 1 mΩ and a typical measurement accuracy of at least 0.1%.

18. It is capable of performing ratio, saturation, and polarity tests on Current Transformers with secondary-winding characteristics specified in the current CFE VE100-13 specification.

19. The equipment supports measurement of the transient behavior of protection Current Transformers for type designations TPS, TPX, TPY, and TPZ in accordance with IEC 61869-2.

20. The software supports calculation of the Transient Dimensioning Factor (KTD) in accordance with IEC 60044-6 and IEC 61869-2.

21. The software supports calculation of the Accuracy Limit Factor (ALF) and the Security Factor (FS) in accordance with IEC 60044-1 and IEC 61869-2, as well as the Vb factor (rated secondary terminal voltage) in accordance with IEEE C57.13.

22. The software supports calculation of the residual magnetism of the Current Transformer core.

23. The equipment features the capability to automatically demagnetize the core of the Current Transformer under test.

24. The equipment supports basic turns-ratio tests for inductive Potential Transformers (voltage transformers).

The test software is included for configuring and adjusting all functions of the equipment, as well as for downloading data and generating test-result reports in Excel format, with its respective original licenses and perpetual usage rights. This software supports creation of a database, test history, and automatic reports containing graphs and test values.

The test set is equipped with a USB or Ethernet communication port.

The test set features internal memory for storage of tests.

The scope of supply includes a PC-to-equipment communication cable.

The equipment includes all accessories and cables required to perform the complete tests, and as a minimum includes the following accessories:

It includes test cables for connection to the primary terminals with a minimum length of 15 meters, equipped with alligator clips for firm attachment to the transformer for primary injection.

It includes connection cables for the terminal block (secondary connection) with a minimum length of 9 meters.

It includes a grounding cable with a minimum length of 5 meters.

It includes necessary and sufficient accessories for primary and secondary connection on the Current Transformer, as well as for connections on the test set itself to perform the tests, such as alligator clips, banana/spade connectors, and banana-to-banana cables.

A USB flash drive is supplied per unit containing the “advanced” version of the software (or equivalent) that operates in Windows 10 and Windows 11 environments.
